Progressive Overload

Also called: progressively overload

Progressive overload means asking a little more of a muscle over time: more weight, more reps, or more sets than last time.

Muscles only grow when they are pushed slightly beyond what they are used to. If you do the same workout with the same weights forever, you stay where you are.

  • In-workout coaching — the coach suggests a heavier load, more reps or an extra set when you are ready for it
